After spending most of the winter with little to no snow, we finally had a big snow “event.” We got about 25 inches at our house on Monday night which resulted in no school Tuesday or Wednesday. Just what the kids were hoping for.

Week 3 (January 18th-24th): Natural History
We took the kids to the Museum of Natural History in NYC on MLK, Jr. Day. We knew it would be a bit crowded but got there early enough to beat some of the crowds. Thanks to the Night at the Museum movies and some internet research, Caroline and Liam had their day mapped out before we even found a parking spot.
We hit all the highlights and spent a lot of time just looking and moving. They loved the animal exhibits and the ocean life hall. The dinosaur area was way too crowded by the time we got around to checking it out, so we didn’t really spend a lot of time there. Liam couldn’t wait to see “Num num” from the movie but by that time in the afternoon, Caroline was over it.
Just as we were getting ready to leave because the crowds were getting to us and the kids were dragging, Liam reminded us that we needed to see Teddy Roosevelt. So, here are the kids chilling with #26.
Oh, by the way, we found out the hard way that you aren’t suppose to sit on him. Opps. Sorry, Teddy.
Week 2 (January 11th-17th): Awwww
I caught this picture just before I left for work on Saturday. Caroline has been interested in the American Girl chapter books. And once she starts a story, she doesn’t want to put it down until she knows how it ends. Love that the two of them are snuggled up reading this one together.
Week 1 (January 4th-10th): Back to School
After a full two weeks off from school, I was a little afraid of what our first morning back to school would bring. We enjoyed lazy mornings with no where to go and nothing to do, so I worried that Caroline and Liam wouldn’t quite be ready to head out the door and back to the daily grind. But my worries were all for nothing. They couldn’t wait! In fact, they started with a little early morning review just for good measure. Nothing beats having motivated kids!
