Can you see it? Just above the box of Legos? A smallish spider, just dangling there? This is the spider that Liam would not let me kill. This is the spider that he would not let me put outside. He wanted it. To keep. Because it was cool.

How to remedy a cold March afternoon:
1. Admit you don’t feel like doing anything.
2. Grab a blanket.
3. Grab a couple of snuggly-warm kids.
4. Turn on a ninja movie.
Or more like under the table and playing. It’s pretty much official. Liam has a best friend. It wasn’t “best buddies at first sight” but for the last two months, he’s been joined at the hip with the little boy that lives across the street.
They get along very well, have similar interests (ninjas, monster trucks, Lego’s…all the important stuff). Their birthdays are just a week apart. They go to the same preschool. And seriously, they live across the street from each other. I worry about burn out, but I hear little boys don’t concern themselves with things like that. So for now, I am taking it day by day–which pretty much means the two of them spend some time together each day. And since I am taking it day by day, I absolutely refuse to think about what will happen to this friendship when we have to leave here.
Let’s just hope she doesn’t learn the “duck face” pose.
