Week 33 (August 11th-17th): iTri- Kid’s Edition

Posted on

The kids have caught the triathlon bug from their dad. On the day these pictures were taken, they swam, they biked and then insisted on going for a run!

By the way, their transition times were horrible! We’re talking nearly an hour between the pool and the bike portion. Good thing this wasn’t being timed 🙂

Week 30 (July 21st – July 27th): Happy Birthday, Little Lady!

Posted on

Like most little kids, Caroline loves to hear about the day she was born.

She loves to be told that it was a hot, hot, hot day in Florida. She loves that I had pizza for dinner the night before she was born. She loves the story about how the nurses couldn’t believe how white her was. She loves knowing that her Daddy was the first person in the family to see her.

It’s hard to believe all that happened five years ago! Happy Birthday to our little girl!

We celebrated as a family after dinner with a butterfly cake. She wished for a great birthday and later told us her wish came true.

Week 32 (August 4th-August 10th): Visitors!

Posted on

We just had our first non-family visitors. They also were our first visitors with kids. Liam and Caroline were thrilled to have new old playmates in their NY house. The girls could have spent hours coloring pictures together and the boys had fun creating stories involving monster trucks and airplane pilots.

I won’t get all gushy about how nice it was to have them here, how great it felt to know that it has been months since Becky and actually spoke in person but you wouldn’t have known that by the way we carried on, or how bummed I was that the days flew by. Sappy isn’t exactly my style. But with all the moving we’ve done and have yet to do, it’s a real good feeling to know that friendships can and do and will endure the distance.

Caroline & Liam were so excited to have their Maryland friends visit!

Week 31 (July 28th-August 3rd): Pig Pile

I'm pretty sure there are five or six cousins in this pile! Smarty Liam waited until the last minute to jump on top!

It’s not often that all the cousins are together. With some living in Florida and us in New York and the rest in Maine, coordinating everyone’s schedules for a family gathering can get tricky. But it all worked out and the cousins had a fun playing with their uncles (the younger, childless ones), eating birthday cake (mine) and being silly and loud all over the place (even during picture taking time)!

Nana wanted a picture of all the cousins together. I hope this will do!

Week 29 (July 14th – July 20th): Busy Little Bees

Last week was so hot and humid that Jeff started taking his morning coffee and “newspaper” to the patio. I joined him on the few mornings when the kids slept late and was surprised to see the flowers along the backside of our house was the spot to be (or bee if I really want to make you groan?).
