Week 45 (November 2nd -November 8th): Rock the Vote

Posted on

Oaky, we didn’t exactly rock the vote, but the kids had the day off thanks to their school being a polling place. This provided them with an opportunity to visit Dad at work. With both of them in school all day, they miss being able to swing by Jeff’s office with a coffee or little treat. We made cookies in the morning and after lunch we delivered a bunch for him to share with his crew. It probably won’t be until Christmas vacation before they have another chance to visit.

Weeks 41-44 (Oct 5th-Nov 1st): October

October was fun. We all settled into a nice routine and had some great fun. Highlights include pumpkins, some costumes and trick or treating, and a homemade behavior chart (compliments of Caroline).

Liam worked on his pumpkin for less than a minute before he decided it was stinking and gross. I'm sure he'll feel differently in a few years.

Caroline decided that painting her pumpkin was much nicer than having to deal with the mess inside.

Liam enjoyed his parade at school. Although his evening costume was a ninja, he decided being a strong army guy at school was the way to go.

The Meyer family let us trick or treat with them. Here we have two lady vampires, a ninja and Iron Man taking a well needed break.

Caroline modeled her own behavior chart after the one her classroom uses. The highest level says "electronic" meaning that if they are super good, they can earn time on the computer or in front of the tv. I'm pretty sure she added that just for Liam.

Weeks 36-40 (August 31st-October 4th): And Then It Was Fall

So I got behind with summer posting and thought I would catch up once both kids were in school full time. That (rather obviously) didn’t happen. So I got further behind and here I am still trying to dig out. I would be a horrible mother and blogger if I didn’t at least post about the first day of school. Liam is now in Kindergarten and Caroline has entered first grade. So here are our first day of school pictures and a few others from our September, including some of our annual fall trip to Cape May. It sure was a busy month!

No tears here. Just two excited kids!

Seems so grown up all of a sudden! How can it be that she is already six and on her way to first grade?!?!

My little man and his "flip" hair-do. Not even five yet and off he goes.

Nothing beats a fun swim after a long, hot day at school. Hooray for Indian summers. I didn't have the heart to tell them that it wouldn't last.

August 3rd-August 30th (Weeks 32-35): The Whole Month!

August was a busy month with the highlight being our annual summer trip to Maine. Here’s some pictures from the nearly two weeks we spent there.

They aren't exactly Red Sox fans (yet) but they do love LL Bean. Could have something to do with the fact that Grampy works for them.

Jeff got a chance to do a triathlon while we were in Maine and the kids got a chance to hang around Old Orchard Beach. They were a bit disappointed that the rides weren't up and running so early in the morning but they still managed to have fun.

Finally old enough to go to Funtown! We brought along cousin Benjamin as a tour guide. I see many visits to amusement parks in our future.

What's not to love about these two cuties? This is them getting ready to go for a boat ride at Highland Lake. Jeff even let them jump out of the boat and swim back to shore.

Got to love kids that don't mind visiting lighthouses!
