Week 27 (June 30th-July 6th): Good Bye & Good Luck

Posted on

to Tigger, that is! Tigger is a seal that was rescued this winer by the LIA. We saw her a lot this winter. She was finally healthy enough to be released. I tried to get the family to see a release earlier in the spring, but it never worked out. So I was excited that Tigger was going to be released at the USCG open house on Saturday. Gotta love the whole “two birds, one stone” thing.

The kids were a bit restless during the wait, but standing on the beach at noon in 90 degree weather will do that to you. I think it’s fair to say, though, once they caught sight of the pup and witnessed her being let go, they were impressed. A bonus: after Tigger was back in the cool, blue waters we got to tour some Coast Guard boats. You all know how we love the Coast Guard around here 🙂

We had front row views and the kids had an even better view atop of our shoulders

There she goes!

And after Tigger swims away, we explore some boats!
